Q: What do
you need from us
before you can start writing?
We
always discuss your project with you in detail before preparing a quote. It helps us if you can be prepared for the following questions.
- What
is the nature of the job – is it a website, a brochure, a case study etc?
- What
are you trying to achieve with the copy – are you trying to increase online
sales, get customers to sign up to a new package etc?
- Who
is your intended audience – are you targeting new customers, existing
customers, CEOs, fashion-conscious teenagers etc?
- What
is your tone of voice – are you speaking with authority, using humour, trying
to appear casual or formal?
- What
is the rough word count?
- When
do you need the job completed by?
Q: Do you have
expertise in our area?
Whether we’ve actually written about robot
vision, reverse osmosis or rock and roll before is, in our opinion, less
important than understanding who it is you’re trying to target and what it is
you’re trying to achieve with the copy.
If we have a specialty at all, it’s
technology (we started out working for clients like Acer, Sony and CompuServe).
But there’s technology in most walks of life these days and we’ve written copy
for a huge range of clients across many different sectors (see
our client list).
Whoever you are, we’re confident of being
able to get under the skin of your company and your products quickly to deliver
killer copy that works every time.
Q: How do you charge?
We normally charge you a flat fee per project, based on the specific requirements of
the job.
Before we start work,
we’ll provide you with a quote that details exactly how long we estimate the job
will take and states what your total job cost is.
Q: What is included in your fee?
Our total job cost includes all necessary research,
preparation, draft and edit work (including any number of reasonable amendments) to
complete the job to a standard that you're happy with.
Q: Can
you start work immediately?
We'll always try to accommodate urgent jobs, even
when we're really busy. But we prefer it if you start talking to us at least a
couple of weeks before you need the work completed. It helps our schedule and
avoids any last minute panics.
